The Minor North Gate

This photo was taken during the 1910s. The picture shows The Minor North Gate, or The Gate of Arching Constellation, (Chinese phonetic writing: Xiaobeimen, which is still in use in maps today). The gate was built in 1909 as a new traffic route to link the old city with the foreigners' settlement (concession). This city gate was much smaller than other gates.
